Senior Engineer

Based in Northern Ireland (Largely Remote)

Verelogic are looking for a Senior Engineer to work for our client, an international scale renewable energy company.

Purpose of the role:

  • provide technical leadership to Field Service Engineers (FSEs) and GOs, ensuring the quality of preventative and corrective maintenance activities and reporting.

  • ensure the standards defined by the Engineering team are implemented and adhered to.

  • act as a technical role model to FSEs.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To ensure the highest safety standards are always maintained

  • To induct, train and develop FSEs ensuring their full awareness, understanding and compliance with method statements and work instructions.

  • To deliver 'on-the-job' training in preventative and corrective maintenance to FSEs.

  • To audit and assess the technical quality of the work undertaken by FSEs to identify improvement opportunities.

  • To review, validate and approve appropriate samples of technical reports produced by FSEs prior to their submission to Clients.

  • To coordinate the response to Client technical queries arising from maintenance reports.

  • To directly perform corrective and preventative maintenance as required.

  • To coordinate and participate in major incidents and repairs.

  • Contribute to the continual development of method statements and work instructions maintained by the Engineering Team.

  • Preparation of reports to the Management Team.

 

PERSONAL SKILLS

 

Knowledge

  • A sound working knowledge of health and safety legislation including Health and Safety at Work Act and Construction Design and Management Regulations.

  • Broad knowledge of solar PV operations and maintenance including both power generation and ancillary systems (e.g. communication, CCTV etc.)

 

Work Skills

  • Ability to write and review risk assessments and method statements.

  • Expert level knowledge of multiple inverter types.

  • Thorough understanding of PV O&M maintenance techniques and standards including electrical tests and thermographic inspections.

  • Management of complex repair projects.

 

General Skills/Attributes

  • A clear technical leader.

  • Able to take ownership of situations to deliver results.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to influence key stakeholders in the business.

  • Flexible approach to working hours

  • Minimum 2 years performing PV O&M.

Education and Qualifications

  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.

  • SSSTS Site Supervisor or equivalent.

  • Attendance at several manufacturers' inverter level training courses.

  • Capable of HV authorisation to a minimum AP3 level.
