Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 DOE


Role Overview


A well-established engineering services provider is seeking an experienced Fire & Security Installation Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality fire and security system installations across commercial and industrial environments. The role involves the installation and setup of systems in line with regulatory standards, project specifications, and client expectations, ensuring work is completed to a consistently high standard.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install fire and security systems including Fire Detection, CCTV, Access Control, and Intruder Alarms.

  • Carry out installations in accordance with technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.

  • Assist with system testing and commissioning activities where required.

  • Work closely with project managers and site teams to meet agreed programmes and deadlines.

  • Identify and resolve installation-related issues efficiently and effectively.

  • Support system handovers, including basic demonstrations to end users when required.

  • Complete installation and compliance documentation accurately and on time.

  • Comply with site health & safety procedures, RAMS, and PPE requirements at all times.

  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, subcontractors, and site personnel.

  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and company vehicle in good working order.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience installing fire and security systems (Fire Detection, CCTV, Access Control, Intruder Alarms).

  • Good working knowledge of relevant British Standards (e.g. BS 5839, BS EN 50131, BS EN 50132, BS EN 50133).

  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical drawings.

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills during installation stages.

  • Basic understanding of IP and networked security systems.

  • Strong communication skills when liaising with clients and colleagues.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Ability to obtain security clearance (NPPV2 Full).

Desirable

  • Industry-recognised fire and security qualifications (e.g. FIA Units, manufacturer training).

  • Experience working with a range of manufacturer systems (e.g. Advanced, Gent, Morley, Hikvision, Paxton, Texecom).

  • ECS or CSCS card.

  • IPAF and/or PASMA certification.
