An established facilities management organisation is seeking an experienced Fire Door Surveyor to support its continued growth. The successful individual will demonstrate a strong working knowledge of current fire safety legislation and standards, delivering high-quality fire door inspections and reporting in line with recognised industry frameworks, including BM TRADA.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out comprehensive fire door inspections across commercial and residential premises
Assess fire door components, including door leaves, frames, seals, ironmongery, and associated hardware, to ensure regulatory compliance
Confirm fire doors are correctly installed, unobstructed, and fully operational
Test fire doors for correct closing, latching, and overall functionality within required tolerances
Identify, document, and report any defects, non-compliance issues, or potential fire safety risks
Produce clear, accurate, and detailed inspection reports suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences
Provide recommendations for remedial actions, including repair, maintenance, adjustment, or replacement of fire doors
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inspection records
Offer professional guidance to clients and responsible persons regarding fire door compliance, maintenance, and upgrades
Remain up to date with current legislation, standards, and best practice through ongoing CPD
Additional Responsibilities
Undertake other reasonable duties as required to meet operational needs
Work independently or collaboratively as part of a wider team to deliver a high standard of service
Communicate professionally and proactively with clients and internal stakeholders while on site
Requirements
Relevant qualifications to carry out fire door inspections and site-based works
Strong, up-to-date knowledge of fire door regulations and industry standards
Ability to produce well-written, technically accurate inspection reports
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Professional, presentable, and courteous approach at all times
Willingness to work away from home when required
Full UK driving licence (essential)
Valid CSCS card (essential)
Location & Travel
Office base in Essex
Role involves regular travel across London and the M25, with occasional travel elsewhere in the UK
