Summary

Verelogic is supporting another outstanding Multi-Academy Trust based in the South West for their search with a strategic HR Manager. This position will be based in Newton abbot but may require travel to other schools in the trust. full details are listed below:

Main Duties

  • To lead and manage the efficient and effective provision of the HR service to academies within the Trust

  • Working alongside the CEO, to assist in driving the alignment between HR strategy and business objectives across the Trust 

  • To provide professional HR support and advice to the Trust Board, CEO, Headteachers, Senior Leadership Teams, Managers and Administrators

  • To provide line management support to those undertaking HR functions within the Trust, including the provision of guidance and training on all HR related matters

  • To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and regulatory matters

  • To ensure compliance with employment legislation, Trust policies and procedures

  • To ensure compliance with equality legislation, advising on measures to address inconsistencies

  • To minimise the risk of the Trust’s exposure to litigation and employment tribunal claims 

  • To keep the Trust Board informed of relevant HR issues, preparing and presenting HR reports, as required

Strategic Development

  • To provide support and guidance in relation to the creation and development of the Trust’s Business Plan

  • To measure employee productivity and morale and develop potential strategies to enhance employee engagement

  • To undertake workforce planning and to maintain an awareness of workforce demographics and develop strategies to address any imbalances

  • To provide advice and assistance in developing HR strategies

  • To monitor the mental health and wellbeing of staff and the effect on the organisation and take any necessary actions to address issues

 

Human Resources Records

  • To undertake HR record audits, advise on improvements and ensure accurate and up-to-date records are maintained, e.g, Single Central Record, SIMS, iTrent etc 

  • To source information and prepare HR reports for statistical analysis, as required  

  • In relation to HR records, to oversee and ensure accurate returns are submitted in a timely manner, such as School Workforce Census, and ensure legislative compliance, e.g, GDPR, Freedom of Information requests etc

  • To advise on conditions of service matters, as required

 

Process Management

  • To continuously monitor and review Trust HR Policies and Procedures, ensuring legislative compliance is maintained, HR personnel are fully informed of and action any relevant changes

  • To provide guidance, support and training to managers in informal and formal procedures and oversee and monitor the administration and correct application of such processes across the Trust, in line with the relevant policies

  • Where necessary, to participate in Employee Relations processes

  • To ensure HR personnel administer factual and timely referrals to Occupational Health, where applicable

  • To advise the Trust in the administration of case documentation pertaining to HR-related Trust Panel Hearings and Appeals and to attend to provide advice to presenting officers and the Trust Board

  • To support change management processes, including TUPE  

  • To manage HR personnel in ensuring timely, efficient and effective probation processes

 

Appraisal, Training and Development

  • To work alongside the Leadership Team on the appraisal process, training, and development

 

Staff Welfare and Wellbeing

  • To manage a confidential advice and support service for staff, including providing referral advice to the CEO, other staff and outside agencies, as appropriate

  • To ensure HR-related Health & Safety issues are actioned in a timely manner e.g. risk assessments for pregnant women, DSE assessment administration etc

  • To ensure HR-related staff training is maintained and recorded, e.g, First Aid, Child Protection, PREVENT, Health and Safety

  • To provide advice and guidance to staff in relation to conditions of service
