Ground Maintenance Technician

Purpose of the role

Verelogic are currently seeking to a Ground Maintenance Technician to join our clients ground maintenance division. The purpose of the role is to carry out effective ground works on our client's ground mounted solar farms, to help maintain production levels and adhere to planning regulations.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the ground maintenance works of solar farms including grass cutting, hedge cutting, spraying and strimming.

  • To undertake Solar panel cleaning, using a specifically designed tractor mounted rotating brush and pressurised water system.

  • Undertake trenching, digging, fence repairs and other manual tasks to assist the Field Service Engineers with repairs and alterations to sites.

  • To produce digital photographic reports confirming work has been completed and addressing any issues.

  • Manage priorities based on local ground and weather conditions and in line with good practice.

  • To liaise with various individuals including the Planning Team, the Regional Manager, Landlords and other Third Parties, ensuring that work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Work within all health and safety guidelines.

  • Basic maintenance of ground maintenance equipment.

  • Make recommendations as to the tasks required to best manage the land.

  • Must be able to accommodate working away, when requested. 2-3 nights a week at peak times.

 

Knowledge

Previous experience of working in Ground Maintenance, land management or agricultural is essential.

 

Work Skills

 

Essential:

  • Full UK driving license .

  • Trailer license.

  • Tractor driving experience.

  • PA1 & PA6.

  • Strimmer and brush cutter experience/certificate.

  • Good IT skills and confidence in Microsoft Office and use of a tablet computer.

  • Experience using heavy duty flails.

 

Desirable:

  • Chainsaw License.

  • Excavator license.

  • Telehandler.

  • C1E.

 

General Skills/Attributes

  • Good, professional communicator.

  • Happy working as part of a team as well as being confident working solo. *Majority of time will be spent working unaccompanied.

  • Show Initiative & organized when forward planning workload.

  • Good time management.

  • Problem-solving & can-do attitude.

  • Happy with outdoor work year-round. All weather conditions to be expected.

  • Be able to navigate smart phones, emails, and apps.

  • Must be able to accommodate working away, when requested. 2-3 nights a week at peak times.

 

Education and Qualifications

Minimum GSCE's or similar experience in previous role.
