Fire Stopping Technician

Overview:

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire Stopping Technician to join a leading team specialising in fire safety compliance. This role is responsible for the installation, inspection, and maintenance of fire-stopping systems, ensuring adherence to fire safety regulations and the integrity of passive fire protection solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Install fire-stopping materials, including fire-rated sealants, boards, and coatings on walls, floors, and penetrations.

  • Conduct inspections and assessments of fire-stopping systems to verify compliance with relevant building regulations and fire safety standards.

  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and fire safety reports.

  • Carry out remedial works to rectify non-compliant fire-stopping installations.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of work completed, including photographic evidence and compliance documentation.

  • Collaborate with technicians and other team members to ensure efficient project completion.

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of PPE and risk assessments.

  • Provide recommendations for improving fire-stopping systems where necessary.

  • Participate in training and development programmes to stay up to date with the latest fire-stopping techniques and regulations.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years' experience in fire stopping.

  • Proven background in fire-stopping installation and/or passive fire protection.

  • Hands-on experience with batt, mastic, fire barriers, and compound applications.

NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection.

  • Familiarity with fire-stopping products from manufacturers such as FSi, Rockwool, Firefly, and Nullifire.

  • Ability to work at heights and within confined spaces.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow technical specifications accurately.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Full UK driving licence (if required for the role).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • ASFP Level 2 or 3 qualification in Fire Stopping.

  • IPAF, PASMA, SSSTS certifications.
